Everything is fine!
Once again, my jeep and I embarked on the “Secret Carpathians” adventure with Alek from Rustica Expeditions as our local guide and Nils from NPL Overland as our supporter and evening entertainer. The 10-day tour was characterized by an infinitely natural landscape, sometimes challenging tracks, therefore also some psychological and mechanical failures, but overall also by the cohesion of the group. I am therefore very, very happy to recommend Alek and Nils for further adventures in the last free 4x4 paradise in Europe. With this in mind — cu-Again!
Fantastic!
Dear Nils, we very much hope that you have made it home safely and that you are doing well. We still can’t quite believe that this wonderful trip has really come to an end. We enjoyed it to the full! It was one of the most beautiful Tunisia and desert trips we have been on. The tour guides you chose are very special people! We would have been surprised if anything else had happened, as all our trips with you were wonderful. Best regards Renate and Helmuth
You have to experience it!
I was allowed to take part in this tour as a passenger with my nephew — and I have not regretted it! It is a unique experience to get to know the desert this way. Big praise for the entire organization to Nils. It was really amazing what the Tunisian guides served for dinner in the evening. There was nothing to complain about! Simply perfect and you always felt safe and in good hands with the group. It’s an experience you’ll remember for a long time! Thank you for that!
Simply awesome
Dear offroad friends. It was already the third time that I was in the Sahara with NPL-Overland and Nils. And YES.…it certainly won’t be the last time. There is something magical about the desert that is hard to put into words. My tip: Simply book NPL and experience the breathtaking beauty of the Tunisian desert with your own eyes (by car). I watched the sunrise every morning and let my mind wander. One of the highlights was the freshly baked bort that the Tunisian guides lovingly and proudly prepared in the sand oven every morning. A big compliment for that. The delicious dinner was also freshly prepared over the fire every evening. Afterwards, we all sat together around the campfire and looked up at the endless starry sky. Dear Nils, many thanks for the great organization and the wonderful time with you and the Tunisian guides. It was a great group. I will remember and dream about this trip for a long time to come. See you soon.…Sandro
Evening hayride with very nice people
I was a passenger in the Landy with Günter and had no desert experience. My impressions of the preparation, organization, planning, procedure, execution, friendliness and team spirit far exceeded my expectations. Furthermore, I can only fully agree with Werner’s experience report. But I would like to add one more thing. Verena and her son Lucas put up a brave fight. Not every family does that. It was a great time with you all. THANK YOU FOR THAT
Here you are a guest not a customer!
At this point we would like to take the opportunity to write a report about our trip with NPL. Short version — for all those who don’t want to read so much — we would go on a trip with Nils again at any time. Honest, open and professional from A to Z. For all those who want to know more… Before booking: Very professional, individual, comprehensive advice on all trips. The most important thing here is honesty in relation to expectations. We don’t sell what costs a lot, but what you want to do! Preparation for the trip: Even after booking, always available and professional in terms of the necessary preparations for the trip. Even when faced with the challenge that your own insurance company simply does not want to insure the country. Travel arrangements: Meeting point at the ferry, getting to know each other… then the crossing to Tunisia and through customs. Everything went without a hitch. Of course, it’s an exciting experience with such packed vehicles. Once we arrived in the country, after a great night in the hotel with a hearty breakfast, we went to the gas station to set off in the direction of the desert camp. As we were able to experience the tour with our 4‑year-old son, we would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to the whole group for understanding the one or other break and the time he was allowed to do something with you! Here is a clear note about traveling with children. This is not a recreational tour with sightseeing. Your kids need to have some travel experience and be saddle fit. This shouldn’t be the first adventure you go on. For us, it was a complete success with happy children and parents. Sahara: Reaching the camp on the evening of arrival is already the first challenge. Next time we’ll take the air out of the tires… :-) The first evening in the desert is spent getting to know the very nice Tunisian guides, eating delicious food and going to bed early. The next few days begin with wonderful sunrises and end with some long days of driving… But always with lots of new impressions and great experiences. We had a lot of fun in the tour group. Even the return journey together to customs and by ferry to Italy maintained the positive mood. All in all, we had a very nice time. Now I would like to give you some very special details, which can be different for everyone: — Some very long driving days, we were aware of that, but it must be clear. — Food: we had enough food for 10 days… But the food was so good that my wife and child hardly needed anything extra — Water: We needed about 80 liters. We could also have used the drinking water from our support vehicle… Then 60 liters would have been enough for us — Fuel: We used up almost all of the 160 liters. As a petrolhead, you should definitely take that into account. Now it only remains for me to say thank you once again. Thank you Nils, Artur and Walid for organizing and accompanying us. Thanks to the participants for the time together and not forgetting a thank you to our Tunisian accompanying team. We look forward to the next trip.
Great troupe
The tour to the lost lake was exactly how I imagine a trip into the vastness of the desert to be. The team around Nils is first class and provides sound support in every situation. The vastness and tranquillity of the desert did me a world of good. In the evening we had a really outstanding dinner with 4 courses by candlelight! Over an after-work beer around the campfire, we talked about the day’s experiences until we all fell blissfully into our tents. This is exactly how a vacation in the desert should be. If I have anything to complain about the tour, it’s that I’ve put on 2 kilos. Thanks Nils, Artur and Vualid, I’ll be back!
Great landscapes and places
As newcomers to off-roading, we really enjoyed the tour with Tom our guide. Level 1 was just right for us greenhorns. The first four days with our Jimny GJ were good to get used to with interesting places and views over the Croatian mountains to the Adriatic Sea. As a local, Tom always had interesting stories to tell, even about the not so nice years during the war with Serbia. We were well set up with our rear tent, even if it took a little longer to put up and take down. From Winnetou locations, wild horses, spectacularly beautiful landscapes with wonderful meadows to the later challenges of very rocky ascents and descents, with the necessary reduction in air pressure, everything was there. But we were able to manage everything well, Tom was always very helpful and prudent so that even difficult passages could be taken without damage. great photos and videos now remind us of the enchanting places. Thank you also for the interesting conversations and cooking duels with the passengers in the evenings after the tours. Keep up the good work NPL Overland.
Unique
Unique! Aleksander impresses with his unique knowledge of exceptional places. All the effort of clearing the paths is rewarded by the long-forgotten scents of wild meadows, clear views of a starry sky and breathtaking vistas. He doesn’t talk about the beauty of the land, he shows it and lets you feel it. Many thanks
Simply super
We — my wife and I — enjoyed the tour “Croatia — Mountains and Sea” very much, so here are 5 stars The short version: The booking — uncomplicated The tour — just right for our level of experience, great nature, wild camps and camps The guide — Tom was and is a super guy and that has to be mentioned explicitly here. The tour with him as our guide was great fun. The long version: Booking with NPL-Overland was uncomplicated, questions about the tour and booking were answered quickly. The line to Nils is short. We chose the Croatia tour because we were unable to realize our plan to drive off-road in Croatia on our own due to a lack of preparation time and experience. In addition, it is definitely better to travel with at least two people. We found the offer from NPL 4 weeks before our vacation, the inquiry and booking was uncomplicated, everything went smoothly. Now that the tour is over, we have to say that our Croatian guide Tom took us to places we would never have found on our own. We chose the level of difficulty associated with the tour because we have only been off-roading since 2019 and were only able to complete two weekend off-road training sessions due to the pandemic. We were therefore not looking for a tour where you spend 6 days scrambling up rocky riverbeds, pushing your equipment to the limit and possibly only managing 40 km per day. If this is what you are looking for, this tour is not for you. The first 4 days were more gentle through breathtaking nature. On the 5th and 6th day, the roads were definitely not gentle on the material and we were glad to have equipped our Mitsubishi L200 and its standard chassis with underride protection and rock sliders. Both were needed. There was a lot of uphill and downhill driving over rocks and stones. In terms of driving technique, this was of course the biggest challenge during the tour, for the driver it meant a lot of driving fun as well as concentration, and for the co-driver a lot of adrenaline — at least in our case. Our guide Tom is a super guy, as a Croatian he really knew his way around, was friendly and always willing to share his knowledge with the group. In the end, we spent another day together at the last camp we visited before Tom set off again to explore new tracks. All in all, we were and are totally thrilled and can only recommend this tour to beginners and “overlanders with off-road ambitions”. However, it should be borne in mind that the difficulty level is 1 out of 5 according to the NPL, and there were participants for whom it was too “onroad”. If you are already experienced and like it a bit “tougher”, you should choose level 2 or 3 out of 5. It was just right for us. Thumbs up!
