We — my wife and I — enjoyed the tour “Croatia — Mountains and Sea” very much, so here are 5 stars The short version: The booking — uncomplicated The tour — just right for our level of experience, great nature, wild camps and camps The guide — Tom was and is a super guy and that has to be mentioned explicitly here. The tour with him as our guide was great fun. The long version: Booking with NPL-Overland was uncomplicated, questions about the tour and booking were answered quickly. The line to Nils is short. We chose the Croatia tour because we were unable to realize our plan to drive off-road in Croatia on our own due to a lack of preparation time and experience. In addition, it is definitely better to travel with at least two people. We found the offer from NPL 4 weeks before our vacation, the inquiry and booking was uncomplicated, everything went smoothly. Now that the tour is over, we have to say that our Croatian guide Tom took us to places we would never have found on our own. We chose the level of difficulty associated with the tour because we have only been off-roading since 2019 and were only able to complete two weekend off-road training sessions due to the pandemic. We were therefore not looking for a tour where you spend 6 days scrambling up rocky riverbeds, pushing your equipment to the limit and possibly only managing 40 km per day. If this is what you are looking for, this tour is not for you. The first 4 days were more gentle through breathtaking nature. On the 5th and 6th day, the roads were definitely not gentle on the material and we were glad to have equipped our Mitsubishi L200 and its standard chassis with underride protection and rock sliders. Both were needed. There was a lot of uphill and downhill driving over rocks and stones. In terms of driving technique, this was of course the biggest challenge during the tour, for the driver it meant a lot of driving fun as well as concentration, and for the co-driver a lot of adrenaline — at least in our case. Our guide Tom is a super guy, as a Croatian he really knew his way around, was friendly and always willing to share his knowledge with the group. In the end, we spent another day together at the last camp we visited before Tom set off again to explore new tracks. All in all, we were and are totally thrilled and can only recommend this tour to beginners and “overlanders with off-road ambitions”. However, it should be borne in mind that the difficulty level is 1 out of 5 according to the NPL, and there were participants for whom it was too “onroad”. If you are already experienced and like it a bit “tougher”, you should choose level 2 or 3 out of 5. It was just right for us. Thumbs up!

The tour was just great. We rode super beautiful, varied routes and trails with fantastic panoramas and camped in fantastic places. Montenegro surprised us with its versatility and our guides Nils and Alex did their best to show us everything in these 10 days. We are very grateful for this and would never have experienced it like this on our own. We were at beautiful lakes either for lunch breaks or for swimming and camping. We were guests in the mountains with a shepherd family who overwhelmed us with their hospitality and traditional food. There was a campfire every evening where everyone got together and talked about the day’s experiences. The days were super relaxed thanks to the good organization. We can only warmly recommend the tour. :)

This tour was perfect from start to finish, from top to bottom! Nils and his team did an excellent job of guiding us into the desert and bringing us home safely. Following the topographical guidelines, it was easy at the beginning to get to grips with the conditions and the performance of our own off-roader. During the 8 days in which we only had desert around us, driving was the absolute priority. Nevertheless, there were impressive dune landscapes, Table Mountain, a lost lake, Berber cave houses and even spontaneous excursions to Carthage or Hammamet. In addition to the excellent support and evening entertainment, the local guides also showed us what they are capable of with a rear-wheel drive pickup in the deepest desert and the highest dunes. Pure experience and concentrated knowledge was gathered here and gave us a good, secure feeling at all times. Nils, thank you for this great experience. I would love to come back and look forward to seeing all the participants again here and there on the various NPL OERLAND tours. See you soon!

This tour was simply amazing from A to Z — amazing team, amazing Tunisian crew, amazing organization and tour guide by Nils, amazing routes, amazing dunes — we would love to do it again.

It was truly unique! A trip that was professionally organized and yet very friendly and cordial. The country, the mountains and the tours speak for themselves. Pure impressions! We would also like to say a huge thank you for your help after our technical defect! We hope to see you again soon, then without a breakdown.

A great tour where everything went really well and the description of the tour on the npl website was clearly exceeded for me. After our arrival, we spent 8 days away from civilization between dunes and gravel roads. The support and company provided by our guides was exemplary, with “half board” in the desert, as breakfast and dinner were already included in the tour package. We ate every evening in a communal tent set up especially for the tour participants. In the mornings and evenings, the guides served freshly baked flatbread in Bedouin style and at night there was a starry sky to dream under. I had everything I could wish for on an off-road tour through the desert and, of course, our vehicles sometimes got stuck, but this was handled professionally by all the participants, every single one of whom I would like to see on my next off-road tour. Thank you Nils for this wonderful experience, it was my first tour with you, but almost certainly not my last, including a repeat of the Tunisia tour.

Once again it was a great tour with many impressive experiences. This was my second time in Tunisia with Nils and NPL-Overland and it certainly won’t be the last. Everything was just right. From the Tunisian guides who always prepared a great meal and the mechanic who always kept everything running smoothly. The tent that was set up every evening was also great. We could stay in it protected from the weather and enjoy dinner together, which was cooked on the fire. For me, every morning was an experience, fresh bread cooked in the embers…mhhhh that was delicious. I should also mention the great hotel in Sfax, which is certainly one of the best. We are repeat offenders and have just treated ourselves to both tours in a row this year. I think that says a lot about how impressed we are with the NPL Overland and Rustikatravel tours! Each tour was special in its own way. Serbia with a very small great group, wonderful landscapes and one or two challenges for man and machine. Montenegro with a rather large group that nevertheless harmonized well. Something that certainly speaks for the guide qualities of Nils and Aleksandar. Apart from that, Montenegro offers varied landscapes and beautiful camping spots. What we always like are the contacts with the locals and the local meals that are organized. The guides Nils and Aleksander are a dream team. On the one hand Aleksandar, who knows the Balkans like the back of his hand and takes you to the real “secrets”. And on the other side is Nils, who always has an open ear and makes everyone in the group feel at ease. Even in tricky situations, which can occur on an off-road tour, it was clear that both of them, with their years of experience, know exactly what to do. Conclusion, anytime again!
