“Jour­ney to the Lost Lake”

Before we dive deep into the end­less dune land­scapes of the Tuni­sian Sahara, we spend one night in a tent camp on the edge of the desert, where we have the whole after­noon to try out our vehic­les in the dunes to get a feel for dri­ving in the sand.

Our jour­ney takes us to the famous sand roses near Dje­bil, over the table moun­tain Tem­baine from where we have a fan­ta­stic view of the end­less expanse of the Sahara foot­hills, to Daka­nis where we set up our camp for the night in the dunes.

In the next few days our path is deter­mi­ned by the course of the dunes. Only a rough direc­tion is given to us … ever fur­ther south we are drawn to Lac Hwid­hat-Erri­ched.
On the way, with a bit of luck, we will meet Alge­rian desert nomads with their camels and learn some­thing about their way of life, which is so unknown to us, in this end­less sea of sand and rub­ble.

After ano­ther night at the camp­fire in abso­lute silence under a breath­ta­king starry sky, we come full cir­cle and we slowly drive back towards civi­liza­tion, past Tem­baine, the moun­tain we know from the begin­ning of our jour­ney, towards Bir Bou­baker and Bir Abdal­lah.

Before we head back to Ham­ma­met on the ele­venth day of our tour, we spend one last fare­well evening tog­e­ther in the oasis camp in Sab­ria and talk about our shared expe­ri­en­ces of the last few days until late at night.

On the way back to Ham­ma­met we stop for a while in Douz, the gate­way to the Sahara, to have a cup of tea, watch the socia­ble goings-on or buy one or two sou­ve­nirs. Here ever­yone can prove their nego­tia­ting skills again .……

Due to its nature, this trip has dif­fe­rent vehicle and equip­ment requi­re­ments than our other trips. Pre­cis­ely because we will be self-suf­fi­ci­ent in the desert for eight days, a much more pre­cise tra­vel pre­pa­ra­tion is neces­sary here. The­r­e­fore, exten­sive initial tele­phone cont­act with us is essen­tial for this tour in order to dis­cuss all requi­re­ments in advance. Of course, after boo­king, you will receive detailed check­lists from us, which are con­tai­ned in the tra­vel docu­ments and are inten­ded to make tra­vel pre­pa­ra­ti­ons easier for you.

We expressly point out that the trip offe­red here is pure desert. We lar­gely refrain from sight­see­ing in any form. Adven­ture dunes, dri­ving in the sand, silence and a breath­ta­king starry sky are defi­ni­tely in the fore­ground here.
