Day 1 – Arrival in Susa

We’ll meet in Susa at a local hotel and relax after the rigors of the trip.

Day 2

During a group briefing, we’ll discuss the itinerary for the coming days before hitting the first gravel roads.

We leave the valley and are immediately immersed in the alpine landscape. The first military roads, winding ascents, and impressive viewpoints give us a taste of what’s to come in the days ahead.

The first day is also an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the vehicles, the terrain, and the nature of the high-alpine routes.

In the evening, we’ll check into our hotel and wrap up the first day of the tour with a meal together.

Day 3 – Col du Sommelier

The second day is all about the Col du Sommelier.

The ascent takes us higher and higher into high-alpine terrain. As we gain altitude, the landscape changes: the vegetation becomes sparser, the peaks draw closer, and eventually rock, scree, and snow dominate the scenery.

The Col du Sommelier is one of the most impressive high-altitude off-road destinations in the Alps. Once you reach the top, there’s time for a long break, photos, and, of course, to take in the view of the majestic mountain landscape.

On the way back, depending on the weather, trail conditions, and accessibility, additional trails and detours can be included.

Day 4 – Mont Jaffreau and the Military Roads of the Border Region

On the third day, we’ll head toward Mont Jaffreau.

We follow historic military roads that wind through the mountainsides of the former border region. Winding ascents, varying road surfaces, and exposed sections make for a varied day of riding.

Time and again, we’re treated to spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. When conditions allow, we’ll leave the main trail and explore interesting side trails and lookout points.

In the evening, we’ll head back to a cozy place to stay, where we’ll wrap up the day together.

Day 5 – Assietta Ridge Road and Monte Brechia

One of the trip’s major highlights awaits on the fourth day: the Assietta-Kammstraße.

High above the valleys, this historic military road runs along the mountain ridge for long stretches. The panoramic view is spectacular—and when the weather is good, the view extends far across the Piedmontese mountains.

In addition to the Kammstraße itself, the itinerary includes several detours. Among other things, one detour takes us toward Monte Brechia.

The day thus offers the perfect mix of relaxed riding along ridgelines, more challenging gravel sections, and plenty of opportunities for photo stops.

Day 6 – Crossing the border: Col de l’Iseran and Val d’Isère

On the fifth day, we’ll take a detour away from the classic off-road trails on the Italian side and head into France.

Our destination is the Col de l’Iseran, which, at about 2,764 meters, is one of the highest paved Alpine passes. The drive up takes us through an impressive high-mountain landscape and offers fantastic views of the French Alps at every turn.

We reach Val d’Isère via the pass . Here, alpine scenery meets a French winter sports resort. Depending on our schedule, we’ll have time for a break in the valley before continuing our route through the French-Italian border region.

The Iseran stage provides a deliberate contrast to the gravel stages: After several days on historic military roads, we enjoy the spectacular high-mountain road and the unique atmosphere of the French Alps.
We then head back toward our lodging.

Day 7 – Finale in the Western Alps

The last day is once again dedicated to the mountains surrounding Susa.

Depending on the weather, trail conditions, and current access options, we’ll combine additional interesting trails and detours to create a varied final stage. This will give you another chance to revisit some of the most beautiful sections from the past few days or discover new routes.

At the end of our six-day trip, we return to Susa. Six days filled with gravel, dust, and high-alpine scenery lie behind us—from the military roads of Piedmont, through the peaks around Sommelier and Jaffreau, to the Col de l’Iseran in France.
